About

About Me

I am Charlotte, writing about my adventures in the kitchen, garden, and everything in between. I started this blog in January 2010 so at this time, there is not much content. I suggest you head over to JavaFoto to see what I have been doing in the last couple of years.

I have a day job in the corporate world that I like, but most days I’d rather be cooking, eating, writing, or simply thinking about food.

I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and have lived in the States for about eleven years now. I love my life here but always look forward to my next visit to my hometown. The islands are beautiful, the people are friendly, and seeing family as well as old friends are always worth the trip.

I currently live in Portland, Oregon with my husband Marcel and Hound-mix dog Mulder.

About This Blog

Most recipes here represent what we eat on a regular basis so not everything is made from scratch. However, I am very careful when selecting pre-made ingredients. I look for all-natural and even organic sources.  When I am inspired, I make something from scratch using a fairly reliable recipe source. I am somewhat new to cooking so there will be very few advanced techniques in the beginning. I do hope that through this blog, I will significantly improve my skills.

From time to time, I write about restaurants that I like and other food-related activities that I participate in (or at least want to). While I love cooking at home, I believe that a good gastronomic journey involves more than just my kitchen. I am always interested in what other people are doing out there.
